

The company of Sony Ericsson announced its new smartphone P990i run by Symbian OS. As the company representatives claim, that is the first product for sale that is based on an expanded version of Symbian OS 9.1 and UIQ 3 platform.
The P990i is a new leader of Sony Ericsson’s smartphone line. Equipped with a 2MP camera with autofocus capable of recording video, it also supports wireless Wi-Fi networks. Its QWERTY-keypad is closed with a folding flip. Only in the first quarter of 2006 the P990i will appear on the counters. According to the company representatives, the announcement precedes the launch on purpose, so that enough applications were available for the start of retail sale.
The P990i can work in 3G networks UMTS and supports functions like videotelephony, high speed download of multimedia files, and a capability to work with HTML pages in full-screen format. A new browser Opera 8 is installed; all the basic e-mail solutions are present, including Research in Motion (Blackberry).
